Why We Are Here

“According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of death for children age 1-4. There by making water the most dangerous environment for a child to be in.”
- Jenny Bennett
President of Parents Preventing Childhood Drowning & Mother of Drowning Victim Jackson Bennett
Drowning is the leading cause of death for young children and among the top three cause of death for older children and teens. The number of drowning deaths continue to rise in the United States, increasing 16.8% in 2020 alone.
Drownings happen to all types of families across the country. Depending on age, gender, and race, drownings effect some individuals more disproportionality than others.
Fun Water Safety Coloring & Activity Book is here to provide information and knowledge to families that might help prevent a drowning in the future. These are seeds of knowledge to be referenced in a water safety situation, whether that is deciding which part of the beach to swim at or looking into swim lessons for a child.
Since most communities in our country do not have access to water safety education or swim lessons, the goal was to make this coloring & activity book accessible to those families by providing a free download option. All families have a risk for drowning and deserve access to potentially lifesaving information.
Parents are empowered through knowledge. This could have saved lives, including three-year-old Mitchell Chang, who drowned at his swim school in 2018. His parents, Dr. & Mrs. Chang, had asked questions when registering their children at the school. However, they did not know the right questions to ask.
